Hi! I’m Carly Menasco, a professional tattoo artist based in Salem, Massachusetts, where I’ve spent most of my life immersed in art and creativity. I’ve been tattooing for over a decade, specializing in custom tattoos that are illustrative, colorful, and full of character, whimsy, and heart. My work often draws inspiration from nature, dreams, emotions, and the unseen, resulting in tattoos that feel personal, playful, and a little bit magical.

 

I hold a BFA in Illustration from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, but I found my true creative calling in tattooing. Unlike the often solitary world of illustration, tattooing allows me to collaborate with a diverse range of people to create meaningful, lasting body art.

 

Some of my favorite themes to tattoo include fantastical food designs, curious creatures, dreamy figures, and anything cute or creepy. I’m especially passionate about storytelling tattoos—pieces with emotional depth and symbolism. Whether you’re bringing me a detailed concept or just a spark of an idea, I love working closely with clients to design tattoos that feel authentic and unique. I also offer a rotating collection of original flash tattoos and pre-drawn one-shot designs.

 

As a queer tattoo artist, I prioritize inclusivity, kindness, and open communication in my studio practice. Creating a safe, affirming space for all is central to what I do. When I’m not tattooing, you’ll likely find me painting and exploring the inner landscapes of my imagination.
